Brush Fire Scorches 320 Acres in Hills East of Milpitas

The Country Fire destroyed one structure and is 80 percent contained

A blaze ignited in the hills of Milpitas Sunday afternoon and swiftly spread across steep terrain to the east, charring dry drush and destroying at least one structure in the process, according to Cal Fire. 

The Country Fire ignited near the area of Country Club Drive and North Park Victoria Drive in Milpitas, according to Cal Fire. It had charred at least 320 acres and was 80 percent contained as of Monday morning.

Evacuation orders are in place for two ranch properties off of Weller Road just east of Ed R. Levin County Park, Cal Fire stated. At least 10 structures remained threatened as of late Sunday.

At least 250 firefighters on the ground and in the air are working to fully contain the blaze, according to Cal Fire.
